Project Summary: Crystal Golden will be in the business of converting fluid raw milk into UHT (Ultra High Temperature) products specifically for the export market. In our changing world, foreign countries are becoming wealthier and are demanding more high quality, safe food products. This demand has really accelerated over the past decade. Dairy is one of the first food products people want when they acquire more disposable income because of the sheer amount of nutrition packed inside dairy products. The global UHT milk market was valued at $60.8 billion in 2012 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 12.8% from 2013 to 2019, to reach an estimated value of $137.7 billion in 2019.
The United States is one of the largest producers of milk and dairy products, and is known worldwide as having some of the tightest food safety standards in the world. California specifically is the premier dairy producing state in the entire U.S. California produces more milk than any other states.California, in particular, has the agri-land and infrastructure to support increased production and productivity. In the last ten years, the United States has gone from a net dairy importer to a net dairy exporter. In 2012, dairy exports consumes about 13-14 percent of total U.S. production. According to the Agricultural Marketing Export Research Center, expected growth in world demand for dairy, along with natural constraints on expansion from traditional dairy export countries, has presented the “United States with a unique opportunity to become a major world player in dairy exports.”
